Different Extremists, Same Views

You may have heard of the Holocaust conference which Iran hosted a couple of weeks back. It was a conference to promote the questioning of the Holocaust and some of the invitees were Jews. Yes, Jews. They are not your ordinary Jews - they are staunchly anti-Zionist and anti-Israel. Almost everyone knows of the Iranian President's wish to 'wipe Israel off the map'. Well, so do these Jews.

It's no wonder then that the normal, average Jews regard them as 'extremists' and 'radicals'. While other Jews relish the thought of their own state - Israel, these Jews do not recognise the state and desire it to be disintegrated. That doesn't sound very different from Hamas' attitude.

So here we have two 'extremists' as seen by Israel. One the one side is Hamas and on the other Naturei Karta. Isn't it funny that these two 'extremists' have the same views on Israel? Isn't it funnier that their own people, the Jews, reject a State of Israel? Anyone here know of any Muslims opposed to Palestine? Anyone?

Doesn't that make you wonder about the legitimacy of Israel? Of course one expects one's natural 'enemy' to oppose but when one's own people also disagree, where is the ground to stand on?

Israel doubts on settlement legality

Don't you pity Mr. Khalil Zidane? His land has been stolen from him and a Jewish settlement now sits on it.

"The settlement is built on our land," says Mr Zidane, referring to the Jewish settlement Bet El, whose red-roofed houses can be seen from his general store. "I'm angry that my land has been stolen. How would you feel if someone came to your home and took your land?"

Under international law, all Israel's settlements - home to about 430,000 Jews - in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are illegal, although Israel disputes this.

"When I die my son will inherit my land," says Mr Zidane, referring to 14-year-old son Annas who listens attentively at the end of the counter. "But I don't know if he will even see it."

And Israel wonders why Palestinians fire rockets and despatches suicide bombers?

With occupation, comes resistance!
